Biker Boy Shovels Snow

Eli got a bike helmet for Christmas. He thinks its really cool.

Who says bike helmets can only be used when riding a bike?

And just so you know, this boy doesn’t only use his snow shovel in the winter!

I’d say he has pretty good technique for a two-year old, though. His daddy has taught him well!

Or Winter?

snow2The day after we played in the leaves, we woke up to a couple inches of snow outside. Being the first snow with enough accumulation to play in, I bundled the kids up for some fun outside. Fortunately, it wasn’t too cold!

snow1Eli loved carrying around his snow shovel, tasting the snow, making hand prints and foot prints, being pulled around in his sled, and going down the slide.

snow5Abi wasn’t too fond of her snowsuit. It was a bit too big on her, and quite frankly, she couldn’t move. As long as she was being carried around, though, she was quite content! I tried to stand her up, but she lost her balance and got a face full of snow. She wasn’t too happy about that! Oh well!

snow6Contrary to Abi, Eli loves his snow gear. If he could, he would wear his mittens all the time! And it took a while to convince him he didn’t need to wear his snow boots every time we left the house (especially since the snow melted that day).

Since this snow, we had another big storm come through. Though lots of snow was predicted, we only ended with 5-6 inches here. However, the wind, cold, and ice closed many schools and some businesses. We were blessed with a “snow day” for Matt, too! Because the roads weren’t that bad (in my opinion), I took the opportunity of having Matt home to watch the kids, and I headed off to the dentist (who had lots of cancellations) and to get my hair cut (finally!). Its always nice to have an extra family day!

More Snow…

The new computer is up and running and I have a lot of things to blog about from the last month. So not to confuse you, we didn’t just get snow…I actually tried to post this on April 22nd…but late than never, though!!

snow-1

Well, we managed to have yet another three day weekend around here! Matt got Friday off as a snow day. And boy, did it snow and snow and snow!!  If the ground wasn’t so warm, we probably would have had a couple feet of snow, but fortunately it melted very quickly! But not so fast that Matt and Eli couldn’t build a snowman in the backyard! As much as I’m ready for spring weather (note: without snow), I love the amount of joy that Eli gets from the snow! Its amazing how kids can bring joy to any and all situations!

Sledding!

sledding-1

With the first real snow of the season, we jumped at the opportunity to pull out Eli’s new sled and introduce him to downhill sledding! However, Eli wasn’t quite as enthusiastic as we anticiapted. He may have been overwhelmed by all of the other kids around who were sledding or a little nervous at going fast down the hill or not quite awake from his nap. And he is two…his emotions can be hard to predict! But, Matt and I had a blast…and I think Eli will have more fun the next time we go sledding! We bundled little Miss Abi up in a snowsuit, but she happily slept in her car carrier during the adventures. We’ll wait to introduce her to sledding until next year! As you can tell from the picture of Eli and I, the snow was melting away fast!

Our Snow Bunny

We missed the first big snow here in Colorado while we were in Wisconsin, but a few days after we returned home, we received a few more inches of fresh snow and the perfect opportunity to try out Eli’s new snow bibs and winter coat! I must admit the dressing process was a little tense, but once outside, Eli had a blast! This kid LOVES being outside and LOVES the snow! We got some of the best smiles on this outdoor adventure!

Eli thought it was hysterical when Matt hit the snow with the shovel sending snow flying all around him!

Eli enjoyed having his own shovel while we cleared the driveway. On the few moments he had the shovel in the correct direction, he actually helped quite a bit!

Matt was anxious to share his love of snow with Eli. These two are quite a pair together!

Who says slides are just for summertime?? Between the snow and slippery snow pants, Eli was flying down the slide at his fastest speeds to date and enjoying every minute of it!

We got a few more inches of snow yesterday and I brought Eli back outside to play and help me clear off the driveway. This time around, getting him dressed was much easier…he was soooo excited to put all his gear on because he knew what was coming! What a fun kid!
