With the first real snow of the season, we jumped at the opportunity to pull out Eli’s new sled and introduce him to downhill sledding! However, Eli wasn’t quite as enthusiastic as we anticiapted. He may have been overwhelmed by all of the other kids around who were sledding or a little nervous at going fast down the hill or not quite awake from his nap. And he is two…his emotions can be hard to predict! But, Matt and I had a blast…and I think Eli will have more fun the next time we go sledding! We bundled little Miss Abi up in a snowsuit, but she happily slept in her car carrier during the adventures. We’ll wait to introduce her to sledding until next year! As you can tell from the picture of Eli and I, the snow was melting away fast!

2 Months!
Its true, as of March 22nd, Abi is officially 2 months old! We celebrated by going to the doctor the next day! Abi is up to 8 pounds, 9 ounces (21%) and is 21 inches long! She has been taking about 2 1/2 ounces each feed and is growing well! She got her first round of immunizations, and unfortunately, threw up most of her oral rotavirus vaccine (boo!!). Abi also had a rash on her face. Matt and I thought it was baby acne, but the doctor thought it was cradle cap and wanted us to start her on cetaphil face cleanser and moisterizer. So we started Abi on daily facials
Well, Abi was pretty fussy throughout the rest of the day. I assumed it was related to her vaccines. But the next day, she wouldn’t sleep more than 20 minutes at a time and was super fussy, which is out of character for Abi. She was starting to refuse feeds and when she did eat, she was only taking about 1/2 an ounce. The rash on her face also seemed to be worsening. We had a bear of a time getting her to sleep that night and ended up with her between us in bed (which is definitely not our preferred way of sleeping!). After much discussion, Matt and I started thinking Abi is developing a reaction to the soy formula. We also started wondering if her facial rash was excema, not cradle cap, which can be a symptom of an allergy. The best way to know is to put her on Elecare (which she cannot be allergic to) and see if her symptoms improve.
So we did just that, and sure enough, her rash is almost gone, her fussiness has decreased significantly, and she is taking feeds well. So I’m pretty sure that our little girl is following in the footsteps of her big brother and has a soy allergy (and likely a milk allergy, too). Fortunately, we have the resources in our possession already to help her feel better! I will likely give the doctor a call next week and give her an update. I also need to consult with the pediatrician whether or not we should see the pediatric GI specialist.
But otherwise, she’s doing great! Its hard to remember life pre-Abi

Baylor Family Get Together
This past Saturday, we travelled back up to Denver for a gathering with the Baylor side of the family. Matt’s cousin, Tracey, and her daughter, Kendall, were in town for a visit, offering a great reason to get together! This was our first opportunity to meet Kendall, and the first time all of the great-grandchildren were together with their grandparents! So of course, we had to take the priceless picture of the momentary chaos!

What’s Missing?
Can you tell what’s missing?? These are the first official pictures posted on the blog of Abi WITHOUT OXYGEN!!! We received word on Friday, March 20th that Abi passed her overnight test and her oxygen can be discontinued! I quickly packed up all the oxygen tanks and put them on the front porch for the oxygen company to pick up! I was more than ready to see those tanks gone! And I was definitely more than ready to have my daughter freed from an oxygen tank! And by the way, I hope you don’t need oxygen, but if you do, I would NOT recommend Centura Home Health!
And as you can see from the picture, Abi has started smiling! And NO, she doesn’t have gas! She has genuine smiles, thank you very much!

(Almost) Matching Recliners
On St. Patty’s Day, the four of us (all dressed in green, of course) drove up to Denver to visit with Matt’s Grandparents, who we call Grandad and Grandma, and to celebrate Eli’s birthday! If you haven’t noticed, his second birthday celebration has been going on and on and on! They let Eli (with the help of us) pick out a birthday present at the store. So, we helped Eli pick out a brown recliner/rocker! Then we headed out for a delicious dinner at Olive Garden, follwed by a strawberry dessert at Grandad and Grandma’s house. I took this cute shot the other night of my boys in their almost matching recliners watching a little TV before bed!

Tricycle Time!
For his second birthday, his grandparents (Poppy and Gran-B) gave Eli a Red Radio Flyer tricycle complete with a handle for his Dad and Mom to push him around on until he masters the peddles! At first, Eli wasn’t too sure about sitting on the tricycle and preferred standing on the back, but he quickly learned its much more fun to sit and ride! He can go about two feet using the peddles before he gets frustrated, but I know he’ll quickly catch on! He LOVES his new bike!
